Extended Foster Care Eligibility Update

Eligibility for Extended Foster Care (EFC) is extended to Sept. 30, 2021, for youth that aged out of the program.

In January, Gov. Inslee signed Proclamation 21-02: Extended Eligibility for Foster Care Services. The proclamation ensures that the Washington State Department of Children, Youth, and Families (DCYF) can follow the federal regulations (listed as Division X) in the new federal stimulus bill. The section “Supporting Foster Youth and Families Through the Pandemic Act” provides additional assistance to youth for the time period of April 1, 2020, through Sept. 30, 2021.

You can find more information about the EFC eligibility extension in this fact sheet, which is also available on the Adolescent Programs COVID-19 page. You can also reach out to [email protected] with any questions.
